After an observant citizen witnessed suspicious activity at an apartment complex, he detained the suspect for police. Officers arrested Jeremy A. Lettow (10/28/81) and booked him into jail for criminal trespass and several outstanding warrants were served.

Stabbing
427 W. 200 South

A verbal altercation turned into a stabbing outside the St. Vincent DePaul Center.  Mauricio Hernandez (09/27/91) stabbed the victim in the lower back. Officers booked Hernandez into jail for aggravated assault. As of this report, the victim, who was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, is in stable condition.

Auto/pedestrian accident.
900 S. West Temple St.

A woman, 58, was hit by a vehicle while crossing 900 S. and West Temple against the light. The victim was transported in critical condition, but she has since been upgraded and is expected to survive her injuries. The driver was not cited.

Street prostitution operation
South State Street

The Organized Crime Unit conducted a prostitution operation in the 1500 block of State Street. It resulted in six misdemeanor arrests and two felony drug charges:

  • Cesar Chavez ( 5/17/85): sex solicitation
  • Heshmat Dehghani ( 3/21/53): sex solicitation
  • Manuel Apolinar-Torres ( 9/25/78): sex solicitation
  • Amar  Gamble (6/5/68): sex solicitation, possession of crack cocaine,  possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Lisa Marie Darling-Wenrich (11/29/62): sex solicitation, possession of methamphetamine, possession of  drug paraphernalia
  • Kamal Miyo (1/1/74): sex solicitation
