SLCPD Seeks Suspect in Residential Vandalism Cases

Fugitive Arrest
315 E. 200 S.

Fugitive Chervon Laptiste (11/16/72) turned himself into police for outstanding felony warrants.

Sexual Assault
920 E. 11th Avenue

A woman was jogging on 11th Avenue when a male suspect approached her from behind and inappropriately touched her. The victim was able to provide a vehicle description, and an officer was able to apprehend the suspect shortly after the incident. The suspect was booked into the Juvenile Detention Center on two counts of forcible sexual abuse. See press release.

Update: Cleanup of illegal camping sites in City Creek Canyon 

Conducted Monday through Thursday of this week, SLCPD’s Community Intelligence Unit reported the following results:

26 illegal camps cleaned, removed in City Creek
12 illegal camps cleaned, removed along Victory Road
  7 people declined social services
  2 people accepted social services
  1 ton of garbage removed

These results were achieved by the collective efforts of SLCPD’s Community Intelligence Unit, Crisis Intervention Team, and HOST partners; Utah Highway Patrol; SLC Public Utilities; Utah Division of Wildlife Resources; and Salt Lake County Health Department.

Foot Pursuit
900 S Emery Street

When officers tried to approach a suspicious man, he turned and fled on foot. Officers gave chase until he eventually gave up and stopped running. They found him to be in possession of spice. A juvenile, he was booked into Juvenile Detention for possession of spice, fleeing, and giving false Information to police.
