Accidental Shooting
583 N. West Capitol St.

Officers responded to an accidental shooting at this address. Obde Ordenez (12/30/94) was cleaning his handgun and accidentally shot his girlfriend in the leg. Evidence at the scene indicated it was accidental; however, officers found heroin in plain view at the scene. Officers drafted a search warrant to search the home more thoroughly and located cocaine, paraphernalia, a large amount of cash, and three more guns.  Ordenez was booked for reckless endangerment, possession of a firearm by a restricted person, and possession of controlled substances.

Standby Assist/Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer
985 N. Riverside Dr.

A victim whose phone was stolen from Sugar House Park contacted police after using tracking technology related to the phone to track it to this address. As officers conducted an investigation, several individuals became non-compliant and a fight ensued. Other people at the house joined in and began to assault the officers, who called for additional units. During the fight one of the officers was stabbed in the lower back—below the vest, above the belt line—and suffered a puncture wound that required stitches. Another officer had injuries to his neck and was taken to the hospital. Both officers were treated at the hospital and released in the early morning hours. The stolen cell phone was located in the pocket of an arrested juvenile at the above residence. Officers arrested Indaleci Martinez (2/20/68) for riot, interfering with arrest, and assault on a police officer. Two juveniles also were arrested and booked into detention. Gang investigators responded to the scene and will be handling the follow-up investigation.
