Metro Gangs detectives attempted to make contact with the driver of a stolen vehicle but the suspect eluded them initially, nearly colliding with an officer’s vehicle, and driving off into a neighborhood nearby. Unified Police joined in the search and K9 Units from both agencies deployed along the Jordan River Parkway. Tracker/sniffer dogs “Otto” and “Dingo” located and cornered the suspect as he jumped into the Jordan River. John Hallberg (6/26/67) was booked on several charges including possession of a stolen vehicle and fleeing.

A man entered the Maverik store, told the clerk he had a gun, and demanded money. The clerk complied and the suspect fled westbound on foot. He is described as a white male, 5 feet 7 inches tall, medium build, wearing a gray hoodie, black gloves and black nylon cover over his face.
