SALT LAKE CITY —President Obama met with six rank-and-file law enforcement officers from across the country this past Tuesday, February 24, 2015. Officers were nominated by the heads of their law enforcement agencies. SLCPD Sergeant Charli Goodman was selected to attend. Sergeant Goodman is a veteran law enforcement officer, skilled in community policing. She has contributed immensely to the positive relationship between the department and the community she helps to serve and protect.
Discussions in the Oval Office involved the officers’ experiences and strategies to increase interactions and trust, including Community Oriented Policing (reaching out to communities and interacting with community members on a more direct and individual level).
