Aggravated Robbery
130 S. 1300 E.

Brandon Roof, 31, entered the secure apartment complex at this address by following behind a resident.  Roof went to the fourth floor and knocked on the victim’s door.  Roof stated he was soliciting donations and selling magazine subscriptions. The victim let Roof in to write out a receipt for the magazines he was purchasing. Roof then brandished a gun and demanded the victim’s wallet and laptop. The two ended up in a scuffle, and the victim yelled for help.  One neighbor responded to aid the victim and pulled Roof from the victim and was able to subdue Roof while another neighbor called police.  The neighbors held Roof until officers arrived. The gun turned out to be a toy gun and was broken in the scuffle.  Roof was booked into jail for aggravated robbery.
