Wanted Person

Officers were dispatched in search of a wanted person. As they arrived a man immediately fled into the block. Officers pursued as he ignored commands to stop and after a long foot chase and several failed attempts to stop him one officer was finally able to catch up to the fleeing man close enough to deploy his Taser and the suspect was brought safely into custody. Visan Leremia, 28, was booked for fleeing and several outstanding arrest warrants.

Hit & Run DUI

At the traffic light an officer observed a car ram the back end of another car stopped for the light, both cars facing north. The first car then took off westbound as the officer saw the driver discarding drug paraphernalia out the window as the car fled. The officer followed the suspect vehicle until it finally pulled over, but the male driver refused to get out and then began fighting with officers. After refusing several commands officers were compelled to use pepper spray and Tased the man before he finally complied. Benito Silva, 22, was booked for DUI, Hit & Run, drug offenses, and other charges.
