07:27 a.m.
550 W. 300 S.

A 30 year old male who was later identified as Jesse Ray Rakes was found shot in the area of 550 W. 300 S. The suspect Daniel Simon, (39) was taken into custody at 320 South 500 West. The weapon used in the incident was not located. Witnesses stated that the gun was handed off to a female in the area. Several other suspects were also arrested and have been identified as Matthew Eyre, Natanni Xoumphonphackdy, and Michael Polk.

4:30 p.m.
Strongarm Robbery
25 N. Redwood Rd (Loves Truck Stop)

The 71 yr old Victim, had walked out of the back of the store with a $100 bill in his hand. He was followed by the suspect, Steven Jones (35), who attempted to take the money out of the victim’s hand. The victim retained his money by pulling it away from the suspect. The suspect was located in the front of the business and taken into custody. Jones was booked for the strong-arm robbery.

11:26 p.m.
Stolen Veh (Via Onstar) / Foot Pursuit /
416 E. 600 S.

A red Camaro was stolen out of Magna earlier in the evening and the vehicle was equipped with OnStar. Salt Lake City dispatch began receiving updates on its location, and east side Patrol Officers converged on its location along with Metro Gang Detectives and K-9 Officers. Officers spotted the car as it pulled into the driveway at 416 East 600 South and the driver of the vehicle immediately ran south into the block while the male juvenile passenger, ran west. Officers pursued the juvenile on foot and were able to take him into custody a short distance away. Containment was set up on the block and K-9 Officers started a track to look for the driver. A short time later an individual who was identified as Angel Moya, (20), walked out of the block with no shirt and no shoes. He told Officers that he lived at 416 East and that he had just come out of the house to see what was going on, however, Officers located a red shirt and red shoes a short time later at the back of the house. Ultimately Angel was booked into jail for possession of a stolen vehicle and misdemeanor warrants and the juvenile was taken to DT for an outstanding pickup order.
