Union Pacific contacted police and stated that one of their trains had struck a pedestrian crossing the tracks near the North Temple Street overpass. It was determined that the incident occurred in an area off limits to pedestrians. Genevieve Blackwater, 54, was pronounced dead at the scene. It appears the victim was attempting to get clear of the tracks as the train was approaching, but did not make it all the way across before the train struck and killed her.
