4:37 p.m.
Assault on police officer
145 S. 300 E.

Officers responded to the area to remove individuals who had set up a small camp in the back of a building. One of the suspects fought with officers. Officers eventually subdued the suspect with the help of a Taser and multiple officers. Officers booked Jason Newton, 41, into jail for warrants, assault on a P.O., and other charges.

Fatal Traffic Accident
989 S. 900 W.

A white pickup truck was traveling south on 900 West at a high rate of speed in the rain. The driver made an abrupt lane change to go around another vehicle and lost control. The vehicle struck a tree and the victim was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

10:22 p.m.
Robbery Suspect Arrest
1831 S. 700 E.

FBI Violent Crimes Task Force detectives were in the area looking for robbery suspect, Brett Michael Edmunds. Detectives received information Edmunds was in the area driving a green Saturn. Officers spotted the vehicle in the area of 1800 South 700 East, and conducted a traffic stop. Edmunds was taken into custody without incident. Police booked Brett Michael Edmunds, 41, into jail for aggravated robbery.
