Man with a Gun
510 S. 500 E.

An officer observed a male walking away from a stolen vehicle. When Officers tried to stop the male he fled on foot and as Officers closed in on him, he pointed a handgun at his head and told them to stay back. The male continued to run for several blocks with the gun pointed at his head and officers were eventually able to contain him mid-block at 500 South Denver Street. Traffic was shut down and officers tried to reason with the male to put the gun down. SWAT and Negotiators were called out and after talking with the male for several hours, the negotiators were able to convince him to surrender and he was taken into custody without further incident. The male Michael Armitage 35, was interviewed by Detectives and booked into jail for possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a firearm by a restricted person, fleeing, and approximately $80,000 in warrants.
