SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department receives hundreds of calls for service each day. Not all calls result in a report or arrest. Compiled by Watch Commanders in the field, the Watch Log is a summary of events that stand out to them in a given 24-hour period. 10:50 a.m.
Occupied stolen vehicle
1300 S. Main St.

The owner of a stolen vehicle located the vehicle at the above address and called police. Officers arrived and took Patrick Valdez, 65, into custody after a short foot pursuit and was booked into jail for possession of a stolen vehicle and tools used for burglary.


6:36 p.m.
Shots fired
844 W. 700 S.

Dispatch received calls of shots fired in the area. Upon arriving in the area, officers saw a vehicle that matched the description. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle but it fled. Officers did not pursue. Officers located bullet holes in the dwelling and vehicle at the address. Later Metro Gang Units located the vehicle and attempted to stop it but it fled again and was not pursued. The vehicle went into oncoming traffic and an accident occurred. Two male occupants fled the vehicle. Non-life threatening injuries for those involved with the accident. Accident report handled by the UHP.
