Fatal Bicycle Accident
515 S. 1000 E.

Marty J. Galvan, 57, was riding his bicycle westbound on the sidewalk at this address. He lost control and struck the curb head first, on the west side of 1000 East, causing fatal injuries.

11:56 p.m.
Foot Pursuit
2100 South State Street

An officer stopped Derek Atencio,28, for jaywalking and when he asked Atencio to walk over to his car to speak with him Atencio became combative. Atencio then elected to flee on foot and after a short pursuit he was apprehended in a nearby field. Atencio was subsequently booked into jail for resisting, fleeing and misdemeanor warrants.

Assault on a Police Officer
837 W. North Temple

An officer stopped Brandon McMuran, 43, for a bicycle violation.  The officer discovered that McMuran had a warrant and was searching Mcmuran when Mcmuran decided to spin on the officer and punch him in the face. A brief foot pursuit and struggle ensued before McMuran was taken in to custody. McMuran was charged with assault on a police officer, failure to stop at the command of a police officer, and resisting arrest.
