Shots Fired
1277 W. 1100 N.

Officers responded to numerous calls of shots fired near this address. Officers located a victim whose vehicle had a single bullet hole in it. Officers located three shell casings in the street. An older silver model car was seen leaving the area at a high rate of speed. Investigation on going.


4:00 p.m.
Auto Pedestrian Accident
900 E. 2100 S.

Several juveniles were crossing 2100 South at 900 East. Most of the juveniles were in the crosswalk, however one of the kids was outside of the crosswalk and was struck by a vehicle. The driver stated they had been unable to see the victim around a large truck which had stopped for the juveniles. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.


11:57 p.m.
310 E Harrison Ave.

Dispatch received a call indicating there was a female being held hostage by a man with a hammer at this address. Upon arrival officers located the suspect in the front room of the
residence. The male opened the door for officers and was taken in to custody without incident. Three individuals were located hiding in a separate room, all three indicated the suspect was holding a hammer while he made threats to harm them if they attempted to leave the residence. Fred Lopez, 43, was booked in to jail for kidnapping, aggravated assault, burglary and possession of drug paraphernalia.
