Shooting

As a party was letting out at this location, several unidentified individuals got into an altercation as they were leaving. A dark-colored sedan drove by the address and a passenger started firing at people on the sidewalk. The people on the sidewalk took cover behind a parked car and returned fire. The sedan made several U-turns, firing each time as they passed. A short time later, dispatch received a related call of shots fired in the area of 450 North Grant Street, where officers located at least two bullet impacts. An officer located a vehicle believed to be involved in the shootings. One of the occupants, Ruben Saldivar, 18, was arrested and booked into jail on charges related to the shooting. Two guns were located in the vehicle, one of which was stolen.

Fight

Officers responded on a call of a fight at the Bar Deluxe. When they arrived, they took two intoxicated females into custody who had been fighting, additional officers were requested when the crowd became upset over the arrest. Samantha Hughes, 24, had to be physically restrained with a body restraint. During the course of securing her she bit an officer as well as causing the officer to suffer a chipped tooth. Hughes was booked in to jail for assault on a police officer and other related charges.

Shots Fired

Officers in the area heard several gunshots near Glendale Middle School and shortly thereafter observed a white sedan leaving the area at a high rate of speed. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle however it fled the area and officers did not pursue. Shell casings were later found near Concord & Lexington and 1150 South 1200 West. Detectives are conducting follow up.
