Assault on a Police Officer/Animal Cruelty

1109 W. Indiana Ave.



Officers responded to the above address on reports of a male who broke several windows and threw a kitten from the residence injuring it severely. Prior to police arrival additional reports came in indicating the male was running in front of passing cars. Once on scene, officers were directed to the back of the residence. As an officer went towards the back, the male attacked the officer and attempted to take the officer’s handgun. The officer was able to take the male in to custody. After receiving medical treatment Ku Htoo, 23, was booked into jail for assault on a police officer, attempt to disarm a police officer, aggravated animal cruelty and criminal mischief.

Officers responded to a business at this location after the owner had responded to an alarm. Officers entered and located a male hiding in the store. The suspect had tried to enter by breaking through the doors, when that did not work, he broke in through the roof causing significant damage to the building. Charles Higgins, 32, was booked in to jail for burglary and felony criminal mischief.
