DUI/Weapons Possession

Officers responded to an unresponsive person in a vehicle. Upon arrival an open container of alcohol and a handgun were in plain view next to the driver. The investigation determined the driver was intoxicated and the handgun was reported stolen. Richard Salazar, 23, was booked for DUI, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm by a restricted person and open container.

Aggravated Assault
242 W. Paramount Ave.

The victim and the suspect were engaged in an argument but went their separate ways. A short time later the suspect entered a vehicle and drove towards the victim, nearly striking him. The suspect fled the scene in the vehicle. No one was injured, investigation ongoing.

Auto Pedestrian Accident
900 E. 1700 S.

A vehicle travelling east on 1700 South made a left turn to enter a parking lot. A bicyclist travelling west collided with the rear of the vehicle. The cyclist sustained critical injuries and was taken to an area hospital. Investigation is continuing.

Stabbing
309 E. 100 S.

The victim and the suspect were drinking and engaging in a debate when the suspect became upset. The suspect grabbed a knife and stabbed himself, then stabbed the victim. The victim sustained non-life-threatening inuires. Angel Navarijo, 27, was treated for his injuries and then booked into jail for aggravated assault.
