A driver appears to have suffered a medical problem while driving. The vehicle left the roadway and struck an unoccupied parked car causing minimal damage. The driver died on scene.

Distribution of Narcotics

Officers watched a male selling drugs and attempted to stop him. The male attempted to flee, then fought with officers when they caught up to him. During the struggle a firearm fell from the suspects waistband. The suspect then tried to take one of the officer’s holstered handguns. With the help of assisting officers Josean Ortiz-Velazquez, 37, was taken into custody. Ortiz-Velazquez was booked into jail for possession with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm by a restricted person, disarming a peace officer, fleeing, resisting arrest and trespassing.

Occupied Stolen Vehicle

Officers observed a stolen vehicle and conducted a high hazard stop. The driver Antonio Sanchez, 38, he was booked into jail for felony theft. The passenger Monica Reynolds, 34, was arrested for drug possession and warrants.

Accidental Shooting
1070 S. Main Street

A male was seated in his vehicle handling a gun when he accidentally shot himself in the leg. He was taken to a local hospital with a non-life-threatening injury. Charges will be screened as he is a restricted person and shouldn’t have a firearm.

Custodial Kidnap
1259 W. Iola Ave

Officers were asked to assist DCFS in taking a child into protective custody. The father of the child fled with the child in a gold Toyota Camry. An Amber Alert was issued. The father and son were located hours later at relative’s house. The father Julian Ulibarri, 35, was arrested for kidnapping.

Fleeing, Distribution, Parole Fugitive

Officers received a tip about a vehicle possibly involved in the Amber Alert. They attempted to stop the vehicle and it fled before being found abandoned a short time later. The vehicle contained a large amount of narcotics. Containment was established and the driver, Bryan Myles 34, was found a short time later and booked into jail for possession and fleeing. A passenger, Jessica Hobbs, 32, was located a short time later and was booked into jail for an outstanding warrant. The vehicle was not involved in the Amber Alert.
