1692 W. North Temple St.

Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that had committed several traffic violations. Once stopped the officer observed drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. A warrant was written for the search of the vehicle. A stolen handgun was found under the driver’s seat as well as methamphetamine. Brandon Simmons, 39, was booked into jail for possession, possession of a weapon by a restricted person and related traffic infractions.

The Rabbi called to report that a member of the synagogue had broken into the building. The suspect had been acting emotionally unstable and possibly was intoxicated. He had been taken home by other members of the congregation only to return later in the night and attempt to enter. He was taken to jail for burglary. The suspect is not the suspect in earlier events of vandalism at the synagogue.
