SLCPD Investigating Home Invasion, Shooting

SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department is looking for three suspects following a home invasion and shooting.

This investigation started at 4:23 a.m. on January 19, 2022, when SLC911 received information about a home invasion at an apartment complex, located at 764 North 900 West.

Officers arrived within two minutes and immediately began looking for any victims, suspects and began securing the crime scene.

Officers located a 24-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the leg. Paramedics transported the victim to an area hospital with minor, non-life-threatening injuries.

The three suspects, described as young men, left the scene before police arrived. Officers conducted an area check looking for the suspects but did not locate them.

This appears to be an isolated and targeted incident and there does not appear to be any immediate danger to the community.

Forensic evidence technicians with the Salt Lake City Police Department’s Crime Lab Unit responded to assist with the investigation.

The Salt Lake City Police Department is aware of an incident that occurred earlier in West Valley City associated with a carjacking. Based on the preliminary investigation, officers believe the two incidents are connected.

Anyone with information on this case should call 801-799-3000 and reference case 22-10924.

A photo from the scene is being provided.

An SLCPD Public Information Officer responded to the scene and provided updates to media.

No additional information on this case is being released at this time.
