SLCPD Investigating Aggravated Assault, Assistance From Public Requested

SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department is investigating an aggravated assault and is requesting assistance from the public.

This investigation started at 7:32 a.m. on April 21, 2022 when SLC911 received a call about a person on the ground bleeding heavily near 280 East Hampton Avenue.

Paramedics located a woman on the ground with a critical injury resulting from a stabbing.

Paramedics transported the victim to the hospital in critical condition. Upon emergency surgery, doctors upgraded the victim’s condition to critical but stable.

Officers established a crime scene and notified detectives.

Members of the SLCPD’s Investigations Division responded to assist with the investigation.

At this point, there is no danger to the public.

The investigation is still in the very early stages and there’s no additional information to provide.

Detectives are requesting assistance from the public living in the area of 200 East Kelsey Avenue.

Community members are asked to review surveillance video between 06:45 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. to see if they captured anything that may be relevant to this investigation.
