SLCPD Provides Update on West Temple Homicide Investigation

SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department is releasing additional information about the deadly shooting that occurred May 29, 2022 at 1790 South West Temple.

The victim in this shooting is identified as 40-year-old Robert Barros.

Detectives assigned to the Salt Lake City Police Department’s Homicide Squad are looking for two cars associated to this homicide investigation.

The first car is a silver Chevy Impala. It was being driven by Barros before the shooting.

Homicide detectives believe Barros turned into the parking lot and parked at 1790 South West Temple.

The second car, occupied by at least two people, arrived after Barros parked. At some point, Barros exited his vehicle and was shot.

After shooting Barros, the suspect got into Barros’ car, stole it, and left south on West Temple.

The car the shooter arrived in, left north on West Temple. There is no description of the driver.

Barros’ car is described as a silver Chevy Impala with Utah license plates U036VH.

The description of the second car is limited. Detectives believe it is a white, four-door Honda passenger car with dark tinted windows.

No further information on this case is being released. Neither the PIO nor the On-Duty Watch Commander are available for interviews.
