SLCPD Investigating Critical Injury Crash in Sugarhouse

SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department is investigating a crash that left a 74-year-old woman with critical injuries after being hit by a car.

This investigation started at 10:48 a.m. on Monday, October 31, 2022 when SLC911 received multiple calls about a woman who had been hit by a car near 2135 South 900 East.

The Salt Lake City Fire Department found the woman in the road and immediately started providing life-saving aid.

Gold Cross Ambulance transported the woman to the hospital, where she remains in critical condition.

The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

Based on the preliminary information, officers believe the driver turned southbound on 900 East from a business and at some point, hit the woman crossing the street.

The Crash Analysis Reconstruction (CAR) Team and SLCPD Crime Lab technicians responded to the scene.

The CAR Team is a multi-jurisdictional crash team that investigates crashes involving serious physical injuries or death. Members of the CAR Team receive specialized training in collision examination, speed analysis, vehicle dynamics, occupant kinematics, scene photography, surveying equipment, crash scene mapping, evidence collection and computer aided drawing programs.

The CAR Team includes law enforcement from the Salt Lake City Police Department and several other Salt Lake Valley law enforcement agencies.

Photos taken from the scene are being released.

There is no other information to release at this time.
