SLCPD Arrest Man Accused of Assaulting Two People at Warm Springs Park

SALT LAKE CITY — This morning, the Salt Lake City Police Department arrested a 56-year-old man accused of assaulting two people at Warm Springs Park.

This investigation began at 7:23 a.m. on Monday, November 14, 2022, when SLC911 received a call about a fight between a group of people in the parking lot of Warm Springs Park, located at 840 North Beck Street.

Responding officers located everyone involved.

Based on the preliminary investigation, officers believe 56-year-old Michael Patterson got into a fight with a 59-year-old woman and physically assaulted her. The reason for, and what led up to, the fight is not known right now.

A 32-year-old man saw the fight and tried to intervene. While intervening, Patterson is accused of intentionally hitting the man with his car and driving away.

Salt Lake City Fire Department paramedics treated the man on scene for minor, non-life-threatening injuries.

SLCFD paramedics and Gold Cross ambulance transported the woman to the hospital with minor, non-life-threatening injuries.

There is no relationship between any of the people involved in the fight.

Officers booked Patterson into the Salt Lake County Metro Jail on one count of Aggravated Assault, Assault, and Failure to Remain at Accident Involving Injury.

Charges are only allegations, and every arrested person is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

The Salt Lake City Police Department is not the custodian of record for jail booking photos. Utah Code 17-22-30 mostly prohibits the release of jail booking photos. Generally, a jail booking photo can only be released by the custodian of record after a conviction or when law enforcement determines the person is a fugitive or an imminent threat to a person or public safety. In Salt Lake City, the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office is the custodian of record for jail booking photos.

There is no other information available to release at this time.
