SLCPD Investigating Deadly Crash

SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department is investigating a deadly crash involving a pedestrian and a Nissan pick-up.

This investigation started at 3:31 p.m. on Wednesday November 30, 2022, when SLC911 received information about a crash at 2100 East and 1300 South.

While officers responded, they received information that people on scene had started emergency life-saving aid, including CPR.

Gold Cross Ambulance and the Salt Lake City Fire Department transported the victim to a local hospital in critical condition.

The victim died at the hospital.

Based on the preliminary investigation, the driver of the pick-up hit the victim while they were in a marked crosswalk.

It appears the driver was turning from 1300 South to 2100 East.

The driver stopped and remained on scene.

SLCPD’s victim advocates, social workers and the department’s Peer Support and Wellness Team were notified of the incident and have offered their full assistance.

This crash marks the 24th traffic-related fatality in Salt Lake City for 2022.

The name and age of the victim are not being released pending next-of-kin notification.

The Crash Analysis Reconstruction (CAR) Team and SLCPD Crime Lab technicians responded to the scene.

The CAR Team is a multi-jurisdictional crash team that investigates crashes involving serious physical injuries or death. Members of the CAR Team receive specialized training in collision examination, speed analysis, vehicle dynamics, occupant kinematics, scene photography, surveying equipment, crash scene mapping, evidence collection and computer aided drawing programs.

The CAR Team includes law enforcement from the Salt Lake City Police Department and several other Salt Lake Valley law enforcement agencies.

A SLCPD PIO responded to the scene to provide media regular updates.

A photo from the scene is being released.
