SLCPD Investigating Two Separate Shootings

SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department is investigating two separate shootings, including one that critically injured a person.

The first investigation started at 8:19 p.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2023, when SLC911 took a call from someone reporting a person had been shot near 1601 West Ivy Circle.

Officers responded and found a man with a critical gunshot wound.

SLCPD officers and the Salt Lake City Fire Department performed life-saving aid on scene.

Gold Cross ambulance took the man to the hospital in critical condition. At this time, there are no further updates on the man’s condition.

Other officers secured the area, located witnesses, and started to search for the suspect and any potential evidence.

Based on the preliminary information, the suspect(s) left before officers arrived.

Detectives believe this is an isolated incident.

The second and separate investigation started at 8:59 p.m., on February 11, 2023, when SLC911 took a call from someone reporting a shooting near 1400 West Pacific Avenue.

Officers found a man with a gunshot wound to the leg and applied a tourniquet.

The Salt Lake City Fire Department also helped with life-saving aid.

Gold Cross ambulance took the man to the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.

Officers secured the area, located witnesses, and started to search for the suspect and any potential evidence.

Officers are working with detectives to determine the events leading up to the shooting.

Based on the preliminary information, this also appears to be an isolated incident.

There is no information to indicate the shootings are connected.
