SLCPD Officers Arrest Downtown Bank Robbery Suspect

SALT LAKE CITY — Recently, Salt Lake City Police Department patrol officers and detectives assigned to the Robbery and Violent Crime Squad arrested a 65-year-old man accused of robbing a bank in downtown.

This investigation began at 10:33 a.m. on Monday, March 6, 2023, when a man entered a bank near 300 South Main Street and demanded money from employees.

The man, later identified as Donald Santacroce, took the money and refused to leave the bank.

Responding officers and a patrol sergeant worked together to enter the bank and safely arrest Santacroce.

There were no injuries reported.

Officers booked Santacroce into the Salt Lake County Metro Jail on one count of robbery.

Charges are only allegations, and every arrested person is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

Special agents from the Salt Lake City field office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) responded to help with the investigation.

The Salt Lake City Police Department is not the custodian of record for jail booking photos. Utah Code 17-22-30 mostly prohibits the release of jail booking photos. Generally, a jail booking photo can only be released by the custodian of record after a conviction or when law enforcement determines the person is a fugitive or an imminent threat to a person or public safety. In Salt Lake City, the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office is the custodian of record for jail booking photos.

There is no other information available for release.
